CEMBIO has participated in the 12th Meeting of the Spanish Society of Chromatography and Related Techniques (SECyTA), which took place from 14th to 16th of November in the Congress Centre of Tarragona.

Several comunications and posters with new developments and innovations in the field of chromatography were presented. CEMBIO attended the congress presenting two comunications:

Alma Villaseñor «CE-LIF method for serine enantiomers in plasma with applications to bipolar depression»

David Rojo «Antimonials activity and resistance mechanism in leishmania spp., a multiplataform metabolomics approach».

Our colleague Francisco Javier Rupérez was the Chairman of the Plenary lecture entitled «Metabolomics of biofluids: from a metabolite to a phenotype», presented by Dr. Oleg. A. Mayboroda, Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), The Netherlands

Also 6 posters from CEMBIO in Omic Techniques were exposed.

From the left to the right:

Thiago Mendes «Controlled experiment for evaluation of statistical models for data analysis in metabolomics»;
Alicia Navarrete «A metabolomic approach to evaluate the effect of liver growth factor (LGF) in mice with emphysema induced by tobacco smoke exposure»; Alessia Ferrarini «A fingerprinting based metabolomic study combining GC-MS and LC-MS to investigated sleep apnea and hypopnea syndrome»; Juliana Alberice «Search for markers of bladder cancer with a metabolomic approach»; Brenda Porto «Metabolomic study of stable Vs unstable atherosclerosis patients searching for prognostic markers of new cardiovascular events»; Claudia Balderas «Metabolomic approach in type I Diabetes by CE-MS»

It was a very good opportunity to share some experiences and innovations in the field of chromatography and to know the city of Tarragona.

We also had a very pleasant  conference dinner. We hope we could meet again in the next Congress of SECyTA2013 in Tenerife!
